Hockey Friendlies v Oranje-Rood

After the excitment of watching PSV romp to victory we went to the Oranje-Rood Hockey CVlub (@HCOranjeRood) to get ready for our first 11-a-side matches. We managed to watch some of the 1st Mens team match before we went to warm up.

This goal was disallowed because the ball came into the D at head height
but the finish was amazing: O-R Men won 4-1

We played three teams their 5th team, 1st team and 3rd team ... as this was a friendly, we agreed to play 11-a-side and 'borrow' a couple of players. Kiki and Afka (apologies if these names are spelled wrong) played all three matches for us and they really worked their socks off on the left wing.

We were evenly matched with our first opposition. They scored and early goal and we could not manage to get the ball into the net, despite numerous shots. So it finished 1-0.

The 1st team were very good and, although we made them work for it, they came out very much on top as their finishing was excellent. It finished 7-0, despite Gabby making some great saves.

Finally, we played the 3rd team and this was a real battle. From 1-0 down we battled back to 1-0, then they scored to go a goal ahead. In spite of several good shots and the last ten minutes being played all in the final quarter of their half, we could not get the goal needed fro a draw.

Our girls have improved so much this tour already and they are gaining in confidence from playing against some really top opposition. A huge thank you to Oranje-Rood for their excellent hospitality, our girls really enjoyed playing against them and the comaraderie in the club as a whole.
